Fincantieri Floats Out Costa Favolosa |
The valves were opened this morning at the Fincantieri yard in Marghera (Italy), and tonight Costa Favolosa is floating for the first time. The ship will be towed to a finishing dock at the yard tomorrow.
The 114,500-ton vessel is a sister to Costa Pacifica is the fourth ship in a five-ship order for the brand. It will have a capacity of 3,780 passengers in total. Costa Favolosa will be delivered in July 2011.
The ship was christened by its godmother of the yard, Beatrice Siri, a Newbuilding and Special Projects Deputy of Costa Crociere, who has been directly involved in the construction of the line's last six ships. Earlier this year she was awarded the Order of Merit by Italian president Giorgio Napolitano. Ms. Siri is shown here with Costa CEO Gianni Onorato (left) and Attilio Dapelo, director of Fincantieri's Marghera yard.
