Holland America's Westerdam entered service last Sunday (April 25).
The 82,000-grt Westerdam was named in Venice Sunday.
The ship will sail in Europe this summer and fall before repositioning to Ft. Lauderdale in December for a winter series of 7-night cruises to the eastern and western Caribbean.
Westerdam in the third in the Vista-class series. A new addition on this series is the Superior Veranda Suites which offer a much larger amount of space than the Deluxe Veranda Staterooms.
The three-deck-high atrium gives a feeling of spaciousness without being overwhelming. Each ship in the Vista-class series has a different centerpiece suspended from the top of the atrium. Westerdam's is a crystal representation of one of Holland America's first transatlantic liners, carrying out the interior theme of Dutch history in America.
Westerdam's piano bar is brightly colored, but like in so many interior photos, this photos show the colors to be a bit more vibrant than they are in reality. Westerdam's colors are more muted than Zuiderdam's the first ship in the series.
The Lido pool's centerpiece is another animal grouping by celebrated sculptor Susannah Holt who here depicts a group of Atlantic Spotted Dolphins.
