| Queen Elizabeth 2 made her final call at
Boston last Thursday (September 18, 2008). There were several displays
to mark the event. As she departed Boston Harbor for the last time, she
was afforded an 11-Round Howitzer Salute by the Massachusetts Army
National Guard 1st Battalion 101st Field Artillery. The farewell also
included being escorted by a flotilla of local boaters and fireboat
water displays from Massport Fire-Rescue and the Boston Fire Department.
QE2 is being retired at the end of November. In her more than 40 years
of service, QE2 called on the city 50 times, including 21 overnight
calls. |

| The final visit to Boston was highlighted by
a performance by the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums. |

| A farewell reception was held onboard to mark
the occasion. Attending were (from left to right) John A. Quelch (Massport’s

Director of the Massachusetts Port Authority - Massport), QE2 Captain
Ian McNaught, and Phil Budden (British Consul-General for New England). |

| On Sunday, the farewell activities moved to
Halifax, which has special significance for Cunard because it is the
birthplace of Cunard Line founder Sir Samuel Cunard. QE2 made her first
call at Halifax in 1973 and Sunday's (September 21, 2008) call was her
27th. |
